Constant Contact costs $12 a month on Lite, $35 on Standard and $80 on Premium for up to 500 contacts, and the price rises with every contact tier after that. At 10,000 contacts you pay $120, $160 or $275 a month, or 15% less if you prepay a year. All prices are US list prices from Constant Contact’s own pricing page, checked on 6 October 2026.
Constant Contact is built for small businesses: restaurants, shops, clubs and local services. It is friendly and has phone support on every plan. But the price follows your list, and there is an overage fee most comparison sites leave out.
The three plans
| Lite | Standard | Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| From (0–500 contacts) | $12 | $35 | $80 |
| At 10,000 contacts | $120 | $160 | $275 |
| Emails a month | 10 × contacts | 12 × contacts | 24 × contacts |
| Users | 1 | 3 | unlimited |
| Automations | 1 template, 1 active path | 3 templates, 3 active paths | unlimited, custom |
| Custom segments | 1 | 10 | unlimited |
| Scheduling and subject A/B tests | no | yes | yes |
| SMS | paid add-on | paid add-on | 500 a month included |
| Library storage | 1 GB | 10 GB | 25 GB |
Lite is cheap to start, but one automation path and no scheduling make it a newsletter tool. Most small businesses that want a welcome series and a birthday email land on Standard.

The rules that change the bill
Send limits and the overage fee
Each plan allows a number of emails a month: 10 times your contact tier on Lite, 12 on Standard and 24 on Premium. Go over and Constant Contact keeps sending, then charges $0.002 per extra email, $2 per 1,000. Bounced emails count as sends; automated emails such as welcome series do not.
Which contacts count
Your tier is set by the highest number of active contacts in the billing period. Unsubscribed contacts are inactive, which is kinder than Mailchimp, where they are billed. But bounced contacts you have not removed are still active, and deleting contacts does not lower the tier for the month you are in. Cross into a higher tier and the next invoice follows.
Price rises for existing customers
Constant Contact’s current plans and starting prices have not changed since May 2023. Existing customers have still had increases: its help centre has announced rounds in June 2025, June 2026 and on August 2026 invoices. The amounts go out by email and are not published.
Discounts
- Prepay: 10% off for 6 months, 15% off for 12.
- Nonprofits: 20% off 6 months prepaid, 30% off 12 months prepaid, and nothing on monthly billing. In the US you need the IRS Letter of Determination for a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6); a tax ID letter alone is not enough. Confirm the discount before you buy a prepay plan.
- Free trial: no card, limited to 100 email sends. The help centre says 30 days; the site’s sign-up button currently says 14. Older articles promising 60 days are out of date.
- 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan.

A Constant Contact alternative you pay for once
If what you like about Constant Contact is the ready-made emails for a café or a salon, ReplaMail ships 15 starting templates, ten of them written for a trade: café, shop, gym, restaurant, consultant, software, charity, trades, salon and events. It is a $299 licence instead of a monthly plan. You run it on your own server and send through your own Amazon SES or SMTP account: at 10,000 contacts and four emails a month, sending costs about $48 a year on SES’s à la carte rate.
| 10,000 contacts, five years | Total |
|---|---|
| Constant Contact Standard, monthly | $9,600 |
| Constant Contact Standard, prepaid yearly | $8,160 |
| ReplaMail: licence, sending and a small server | $1,189 to $1,385 |
Be honest with yourself. Constant Contact includes the sending, phone support, SMS on Premium and social ads. ReplaMail does email only, you bring your own sending account, and you need a server (about €5–15 a month) or our $798 setup. If you never want to think about any of that, Constant Contact is the easier choice.
Questions people ask
How much does Constant Contact cost a month?
Lite starts at $12, Standard at $35 and Premium at $80 a month for up to 500 contacts, paid monthly. At 10,000 contacts it is $120, $160 and $275. US list prices, checked 6 October 2026.
Is there a free Constant Contact plan?
No. There is a free trial with no card, limited to 100 email sends. Constant Contact’s help centre says 30 days, while the button on its site currently says 14 days, so check which one you are offered.
Does Constant Contact charge for going over the send limit?
Yes: $0.002 for every email over your monthly allowance, which is $2 per 1,000. The allowance is 10 times your contact tier on Lite, 12 times on Standard and 24 times on Premium. Automated emails do not count.
Do unsubscribed contacts count on Constant Contact?
Unsubscribed contacts are treated as inactive, and the tier follows active contacts. Bounced contacts you have not removed still count, and deleting contacts does not lower the tier you were billed for.
How do I get a Constant Contact discount?
Prepay: 10% off for 6 months, 15% for 12. Nonprofits get 20% for 6 months or 30% for 12, but only on prepay, never monthly, and only after sending proof of status before buying.
What happened to Constant Contact Core and Plus?
Core ($9.99) and Plus ($45) were the plans before May 2023. Existing customers can stay on them or move to Lite, Standard or Premium; new customers only see the three current plans.
