Mailchimp alternative

A Mailchimp alternative you buy once

Campaigns, automations, signup forms and landing pages for every brand you run, from one install on your own server. $299 once. Your list grows; the price does not.

Prices in this page were read from each provider’s own pricing page on 6 October 2026.

Why people look for a Mailchimp alternative

Usually it is the bill. At 10,000 contacts Mailchimp Standard is $135 a month and Premium $350, and three rules push it higher than the price table suggests:

  • Unsubscribed contacts are billed. Only archived, cleaned or deleted ones are not.
  • The same person in two audiences is billed twice, and Standard allows five audiences.
  • The bill follows your peak contact count in the month, not where you ended.

The free plan was cut to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month in December 2025, so “start free and grow” now ends quickly. The full breakdown is in Mailchimp pricing.

The alternatives, by kind

There are three ways out, and they suit different people.

OptionExamplesAt 10,000 contactsGood for
A cheaper hosted serviceMailerLite, Brevo, KitMailerLite $89–$129, Kit $139–$189 a month; Brevo prices by emails sentAnyone who never wants to run a server
Another hosted all-rounderConstant Contact, ActiveCampaignConstant Contact $120–$275; ActiveCampaign Plus $189 a month billed yearlyPhone support, SMS, CRM features
Software you run yourselflistmonk, Mautic, Sendy, ReplaMailFree to $299 once, plus sending (about $4 a month on SES) and a serverLarge lists, several brands, people who want to own the data
US list prices, monthly billing unless stated, checked 6 October 2026.

ReplaMail is in the third group. Of the self-hosted options, listmonk is free and fast but has no automation builder; Mautic is free and powerful but heavy to run; Sendy is $69 and built for Amazon SES with simpler autoresponders. They are compared properly on the Sendy alternative page.

Five years at 10,000 contacts

Monthly prices hide what a list costs over the years you will actually keep it. Same list, same size, five years:

10,000 contactsPer monthFive years
Mailchimp Premium$350$21,000
Mailchimp Standard$135$8,100
Constant Contact Standard$160$9,600
Kit Creator$139$8,340
MailerLite Comfort$89$5,340
ReplaMailsending and server only$1,189–$1,385
List prices × 60. ReplaMail: the $299 licence, four sends a month on Amazon SES at its $0.10 à la carte rate, and about $130 a year of server; the higher figure adds the optional $49 a year for updates after the first year.

And a list rarely stays the same size. On a hosted plan each new tier raises the monthly price; on ReplaMail only the sending grows, at cents per thousand emails.

What you keep from Mailchimp

Writing and designing

  • A drag-and-drop designer with 21 block types, merge tags inside sentences
  • 15 starting templates, ten written for a trade
  • Email built from tables and inline styles, so it survives Outlook

Automations

  • A visual flow builder: send, wait, ask a question, tag, add to a list, call a webhook
  • Branches on what people did: opened, clicked, has a tag, is on a list
  • Starts from a signup, a tag, a click, or your own software

Growing the list

  • Its own signup forms and landing pages, on your own domain
  • Takes signups from forms you already have: HTML, Typeform, Webflow, Zapier
  • Rules on arrival: this form starts that automation

Doing it properly

  • One-click unsubscribe headers and the postal address, as Gmail and Yahoo require
  • A blocked address is never emailed, by any route
  • Double opt-in on signup forms, with when and where each person signed up
  • Hard bounces and spam complaints blocked the moment your sending service reports them

Every brand you run

  • Unlimited brands, each with its own from-address, logo and footer
  • Each brand can use its own sending account
  • Lists, tags and reports kept apart per brand
  • Your team signs in separately, each with their own brands and role

Getting in and out

  • Imports the CSV exports from Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign
  • A REST API, a Zapier app and a Make app
  • An MCP server that drafts, and never sends

What you give up

A sending service

Mailchimp sends for you. ReplaMail hands mail to your own Amazon SES, SMTP2GO or other account, and the sender reputation is yours to look after.

SMS and social posts

ReplaMail does email and what feeds it: forms, landing pages, automations, lists. No texts, no Instagram scheduling.

Shop integrations

There is no Shopify or WooCommerce connection yet, so no abandoned-cart emails or revenue per campaign. If that is why you use Mailchimp, stay for now.

Someone else’s server

You need a server (about €5–15 a month) and you look after it, backups included. Or we set it up for $798, or host it for $79 a month.

Moving over from Mailchimp

  1. Export your audience from Mailchimp. The export keeps unsubscribed and cleaned contacts in their own files.
  2. Set up ReplaMail on your server, or have us do it.
  3. Connect a sending account. Amazon SES is the cheapest; new SES accounts need production access, which AWS says it answers within 24 hours (see Amazon SES pricing).
  4. Import your contacts from the CSV. Paste the unsubscribed and cleaned addresses into the blocked list, so nobody who left you in Mailchimp is emailed again.
  5. Start with your most engaged readers and grow the volume over a couple of weeks, so the new sending domain builds a good reputation.

Try it before any of that: the live demo signs in with demo / demo and is read-only.

Questions people ask

What is the cheapest alternative to Mailchimp?

For a hosted service at 10,000 contacts, MailerLite Comfort at $89 a month was the cheapest of the big names we checked on 6 October 2026. Cheaper still is software you run yourself and send through Amazon SES: listmonk and Mautic are free, Sendy is $69 once and ReplaMail is $299 once, plus a few dollars a month of sending and a small server.

Is there a free Mailchimp alternative?

Brevo, MailerLite and Kit all have free plans, each with limits (Brevo 300 emails a day, MailerLite 250 subscribers, Kit up to 10,000 subscribers with fewer features). listmonk and Mautic are free, open-source software you host yourself.

Can I move my list from Mailchimp to ReplaMail?

Yes. Export your audience from Mailchimp and import the CSV. Then paste the addresses of people who unsubscribed into ReplaMail’s blocked list, and they are never emailed from that brand again.

Does ReplaMail send the email itself?

No. ReplaMail hands each email to your own sending account: Amazon SES, SMTP2GO, Resend, SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark or any SMTP server. That is why there is no per-contact price.

Is ReplaMail open source?

No. It is commercial software: you buy a licence and get the complete source code with it. If open source matters to you, listmonk (AGPL) and Mautic (GPL) are the ones to look at.

What does ReplaMail not do that Mailchimp does?

It does not send email for you, it has no SMS or social posting, and it has no Shopify or WooCommerce integration, so no abandoned-cart or revenue tracking. You also need a server, or our setup service.

Own your list.

$299 once. Every brand you run, unlimited contacts, your own sending account. Nobody bills you again because the list grew.
