Email marketing for nonprofits
Email your supporters without paying for each one
Most email platforms charge by the size of your list, so every petition, event and appeal makes the next bill bigger. ReplaMail is $299 once, with unlimited contacts.
Discounts and prices read from each provider’s own pages on 6 October 2026.

Why list-size pricing hurts nonprofits most
A charity’s list grows in bursts: a campaign goes well, a petition is shared, an event fills up. Supporters stay for years and give once or twice a year. Pricing by the contact means paying every month for people who are, quite rightly, mostly quiet.
It is worse than it looks, because some providers bill people who have left. Mailchimp counts unsubscribed contacts, and so does ActiveCampaign for accounts opened since November 2025.
Nonprofit discounts, compared
| Provider | Discount | The conditions |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot | 40% | New customers, Professional or Enterprise, a yearly contract, nonprofits in North America, Australia or New Zealand |
| MailerLite | 30% | Any paid plan, for as long as it is active; replaces the yearly-billing discount |
| Constant Contact | 20% or 30% | Only when you prepay 6 or 12 months; nothing on monthly billing |
| ActiveCampaign | 20% | Proof of nonprofit status; applies to future payments |
| Brevo | 20% | Any monthly or yearly paid plan, with proof of registration |
| Mailchimp | 15% | Verified nonprofits; ask before buying, not applied backwards |
| Campaign Monitor | 15% | Ask the sales team |
What 10,000 supporters cost, after the discount
Four emails a month to 10,000 supporters, on the plan most organisations would pick, with the nonprofit discount applied:
| 10,000 contacts | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| ActiveCampaign Plus, 20% off month-to-month | $191.20 | $2,294.40 |
| Mailchimp Standard, 15% off | $114.75 | $1,377 |
| Constant Contact Standard, 30% off a year prepaid | $112 | $1,344 |
| MailerLite Comfort, 30% off | $62.30 | $747.60 |
| ReplaMail: licence, Amazon SES and a server | about $15 | $477 in year one, then $178 |
Over five years at this size, the discounted hosted plans cost between about $3,700 and $11,500. ReplaMail costs about $1,189, and its cost does not change when the list doubles: only the sending grows, at cents per thousand.

What it will not do
Take donations
There is no donation form, payment connection or Gift Aid. Your donation page does that; ReplaMail sends people to it and shows who clicked.
Send for you
You connect a sending account such as Amazon SES, and keep your sender reputation healthy. Sending 10,000 supporters four emails a month costs about $4 a month on SES.
Text messages
Email only. Constant Contact Premium includes 500 texts a month; ReplaMail none.
Run itself
It needs a server and someone to look after it. Or $798 for us to set it up, or $79 a month for us to host it.
Paying for the sending with AWS credits
ReplaMail sends through a provider you choose, and Amazon SES is the cheapest: about $4 a month for the example above, at its $0.10 à la carte rate. New AWS accounts start on a $0.16 plan; here is how to switch.
US nonprofits can apply for AWS credits through TechSoup: $1,000 a year for organisations with a budget under $10 million, $2,000 between $10 and $50 million, and $5,000 above that, for an admin fee of $95, $190 or $475. One grant per fiscal year, valid for at least 12 months. The credits cover AWS’s pay-as-you-go services; SES is one, though AWS does not name it. One trap: AWS says free-plan accounts cannot take other promotional credits, so upgrade the account to a paid plan before redeeming.
Questions nonprofits ask
Which email marketing platforms give nonprofits a discount?
HubSpot 40% (Professional and Enterprise, yearly, North America, Australia and New Zealand), MailerLite 30%, Constant Contact 20% or 30% on prepaid plans only, ActiveCampaign 20%, Brevo 20%, Mailchimp 15% and Campaign Monitor 15%. Read from each provider’s own pages on 6 October 2026.
Is Mailchimp free for nonprofits?
No. Nonprofits can use the free plan like anyone else, which now stops at 250 contacts, or get 15% off a paid plan once Mailchimp has verified them. Ask before you buy: the discount is not applied backwards.
Can ReplaMail take donations?
No. ReplaMail sends the email; your donation page takes the money. The charity starter email has a “Give again” button you point at your own donation page, and you can track who clicked it.
Do we need a technical person to run ReplaMail?
Someone has to look after a small server, about €5–15 a month. If nobody in your team or among your volunteers can, we set it up for $798 once, or host it for $79 a month.
Can AWS credits pay for the sending?
Possibly. US nonprofits can apply through TechSoup for $1,000 to $5,000 of AWS credits a year, for an admin fee. They cover AWS’s pay-as-you-go services, which Amazon SES is, though AWS does not name SES specifically.
Does ReplaMail record consent?
It records when each person signed up and through which form, and double opt-in can be switched on per signup form, so people confirm by email before they join.
